YAK

Family: Bovidae

Origin: Central Asia (Tibet, Mongolia, China, Nepal…)

Lifespan: 20 to 25 years

Reproduction: After nine months of maternity the female (Dri) gives birth to one offspring.

Nutrition diet: Herbivore (grass, hay and cereals…)

Description: The yak lives on the highlands of Central Asia, upto 5 400 metres. Wild yaks only exist in Tibet, they are bigger than the domesticated yak and can weigh upto a ton. Today wild yaks are threatened, only 15 000 are counted to this day.
