SHETLAND PONY

Equus caballus

Family: Equidae

Origin: Scotland (Shetland Islands)

Lifespan: 25 years

Reproduction: After 11 months of maternity, the female (Jennet) gives birth to a foal.

Nutrition diet: Herbivore (grass, vegetation, cereals…)

Description: The pony measures from 80 to 107cm. It’s used as a working animal and to be mounted by children. This animal is lively and therefore needs to be handed by an experienced person. Like other ponies you need to impose rationing because it easily gains weight.
