HIGHLAND CATTLE COW

Origin: North Scotland and highland regions

Lifespan: Over 20 years

Reproduction: After 9 months of maternity, the female gives birth to a calf.

Nutrition diet: Herbivore (grass, hay and cereals…)

Description: This cow is long-furred due to the harsh climat of its place of origin but it can also cope with hot temperatures. It is usually red-furred but can also be grey, black or white. It’s a quite calm animal and in France it’s used for the upkeep of forests and river banks mostly in mountain areas.
